Swim Workouts To Go app good for
I love this app, it is a must have for swimmers without access to a coach. Daily workouts are balanced, challenging and fun but also long (4000 to 5000 yards or meters). However, you can adjust distance to meet your needs. The app is simple and easy to use --no bells and whistles here, just workouts to help you get focused and improve your swimming; they include kick and drill sets, a variety of strokes (not just freestyle), rest time between sets, etc.
I was somewhat hesitant to get it because it was launched in 2012 and since then no new version has been released. However, it works like a charm. A new workout is posted every day --it is actually available the night before for your convenience. Ive seen much progress in my swimming and although I feel tired after the workout, I am totally rested by the following day and looking forward to another swimming session. I highly recommend it.
great app, use it every day for workouts! However, I would love if they updated the UI. Its starting to look extremely dated.
Some bad moments
I love the stroke/IM workouts! The practice goes by quickly, which is a big plus when I want to get in more yardage but have difficulty staying focused when swimming alone. I also like that I can filter and search the workouts--very helpful for the picky swimmer.
Im on the road a lot but want to keep up my swim training as I compete in triathlons over the summer. These workouts are posted every day by 6AM but there are also months of previous workouts to choose from as well. Id advise you to read the terminology first to have a better idea of what the coach intends for workouts. Many of the concepts are similar to what I am used to although the wording is a bit different. The most important part is that the workouts are structured well and its cook to think that there are actual swimmers at Harvards pool doing the same practice with the coach (and in reviewing the Cambridge Masters Swim Clubs website, they permit drop-in swimmers if you are in the area for work). I also love the fact that I can type in my location and find a pool at which to swim. If you are looking for a great app to help provide motivation and structure to your workouts, I havent found any others like this one.

I have NEVER reviewed an app before but felt compelled to review this one. Great variety of workouts. Perfect distances. Nice mix of free and stroke. Especially helpful if you have access to a pool but no coach. Thank you!!
As a swim coach and former swimmer I find this app to be a missing link for a quick idea for a swim workout. I can remember off season college training where I was in search of a different workout. Sometimes I simply dont even feel like writing up a well constructed swim workout which would end up leading me to not even going for a swim at all. SwimWorkout gives good choices and "change-ups" for a nice swim workout that is easy and fast.
Also, as a swim coach I am asked frequently to write up workouts for people. As much as its a compliment that people would like me to write up a swim workout for them, at times its bad timing or you may simply not feel like it.
In the end, this app serves not only swimmers on the go but it also can serve college level, club, high school, and master swimmers with ease. I highly recommend this app for any frequent swimmer and swim coach.
Easy to use, love the very helpful link to locate places to swim when we travel! Definitely worth buying this app!
